MAKES IT FIYE STRAIGHT AL KOENIGSBERGS FAST FILLY. ROSE QUEEN. AGAIN WINS IN CANADA. Beats Hanbridge and Other Good Sprinters in Handicap at Fort Erie Cave Adsum Scores at Short Odds. Buffalo. N. Y.. July 8. Al Koenigsbcrgs Rose Queen again demonstrated her class this afternoon when she won the feature race at Fort Erie from a band of good sprinters. The Kingston filly had been assigned rather a hard task by the handlcapper, who asked her to concede from six to twenty-four Eounds to some pretty shifty horses. But Koenlgs-ergs filly proved equal to the emergency and came out of the racs with fresh laurels. It was her fifth consecutive victory on the Canadian circuit. Rose Queen, because of her consistent running, has become a prime favorite with northern race-goers. She was heavily backed today and her victory was roundly applauded, jockey Mentry being given an ovation when he dismounted. It was favorites day. a majority of the races being, taken by the choices. In only two Instances did the favorites fail to score. One of these was the race won by P. T. Chlnns Chief Kee. The latter, a big; lumbering colt, has steadily Improved with racing and it now looks as though he might develop into a good colt, especially when asked to go a bit farther. An accident occurred In the closing race. Jockey Rettig, who had the mount on Howard Shean. got a nasty-looking fall. In rounding the turn into the backstretch the field bunched up and Hooray swerved over to the inside and Jostled Howard Shean. The latter got tangled up in a jam and turned a somersault Rettig rolled for twenty feet and when picked up he was considerably bruised. The lad was weak and unable to walk and was carried to the paddock on a stretcher, but soon after the races he recovered his strength and walked home. William Walker definitely announced today that he would retire from racing for a while at least. Walker will locate at the home of his parents at Uxbridge. a small town in western Ontario. Hin entire stable, including Stanley Fay and Bellwether, will be sold by auction in the paddock at Fort Erie on Saturday. Walker has already shipped the Sain stallon. Earl Rogers, to . his farm, together with a few marcs. Walker will try and breed a Kings Plate winner and what racing he will do in the .next few years- will be confined to the Canadian tracks. Jockey Eddie Walsh has signed to ride for John W. Schorr during the remainder of the season on tho Canadian circuit. W. W. Lyles was among the arrivals from Latonia this morning. Several racing strings got in -from that point, including among others Dave Henrys division of Barney Sehrelbers stable. D. T. Morris. Howard Oots and J. Stevens. Jockeys W. Paul and Steele also arrived from the same place. John Ferriss shipped the Ornus colt, Olambala, to Sheepshead Bay yesterday.
