ANOTHER OLD-TIMER COMING BACK. New York. July 8. Harry W. Smith, of Worcester, Mass.. has been a patron of the Sheepshead Bay races this summer. A few years back the. appearance of Mr. Smith at the track would not have excited comment. He was then a regular. But those were the days when Mr. Smith owned, trained and rode a bunch of steeplechasers. He has not been much of a patron of the sport since he won the Champion Steeplechase with his reliable old fencer. The Cad. He is now devoting himself to hunting in Massachusetts, but his friends say that he may show up at Saratoga with a couple of good chasers. Mr. Smith has The Cad on pension in Massachusetts. He says it gives him considerable satisfaction while showing visitors over his place to point the old fellow out and say: "There is a horse on which I won the Champion at Morris Park In 1900."
