The American Derby was never transferred to any other city. Lokl was a two-year-old in 1S95. Your question evidently refers to the Hawthorne National Derby, transferred to St. Louis in 189G. It was wortli 4,000 and - --was won by Bvron IMcClellands Prince Lief, with lien Brush second and Ben Eder third, June 20, laM.- at the St. Louis Fair Grounds. HIckcv. " Chicago, lien Strome sired sprinters and stavers both. Eugenia Burch and Highball were good examples of his stayers and Roseben serves as a sample of his sprinters. Big Ben Was mostly used as a sprinter, but was not necessarily such. His first winning race in Chicago was at a mile over the Washington Park track June 24. 1903. He was second to Sidney C.
