Ida I., after forward pursuit of the pacemakers, swerved badly in the stretch, but got np with a rush imperceived on the inside in the final strides and was lucky. AUriuche. after nearest pursuit for a half, drew out and held sway through the stretch under a pull, but succumbed suddenly and unexpectedly, hnl-taior, outpaced early, finished like a shot in a craeking effort. Twilight Queen, shuttled back on the far turn, closed up rapidly and loomed up menacingly midway of the stretch, but quit badly finally. Queen Marguerite, never dangerous because of a bad start, finished well. Lilypad, from a slow start, ran into the lead and. crossing the others, led to the second quarter and quit in the stretch. Maltbie. badly outpaced in tiie early running and crowded sharply on the turn by Moonshine, was forced to pull up and had no chance afterward. Moonshine ran forwardly for six furlongs; then retired. Evening Song, in inside close quarters and shnllled rearward in the early running, closed a gap in the last quarter under a had ride. Seams trailed well up to the stretch, was a fast going third and is very promising. Inspired ran forwardly and gainely throughout. Danfield showed superior speed to the stretch and tired as if short. Footpad, quickly deprived of the lead, ran in nearest pursuit to the far turn, then seemed beaten for second place, but came again and outstayed Live Wire in the closing drive. Hill Top. reserved well up. but on the outside. lost ground on the turns, but was a fast, going second. Ronnie Kelso ran in forward pursuit from the start and was seemingly a safe second in the stretch, but tired finally. Wilton l.nckave, after trailing in the early running, closed up steadily at the end. Judge Ermentrout made the running for a mile ami an eighth liefore relinquishing his lead.
