SHEEPSHEAD BAY MEETING SUCCESSFUL. Popular Old Course Builds Up New. Clientele fright Prospects for Yonkers and Saratoga. Ne.w York. July 13. The June meeting of the Coney Island Jockey Club, which came to an end today with the running of the historic Lawrence Realization a three-year-old special, instituted in 18S!. when the late James G. K. Lawrence, for whom it is named, was the genius of racing at Sheepshcad Bay was successful. The attendance from day to day fully equaled the expectations of President Schuyler Parsons and Treasurer Francis It. Hitchcock, the directors of the meeting. Sheepshcad Bay this year built up a new clientele. It was not as numerous as the old one. but it made up in quality what, it lacked in numbers. The oldest votary of the sport cannot recall a season when" the attendance at the Bay was so high in respect to elass as it was this summer. All of which augurs fell for the coming meetings at Empire City and Saratoga. Both of these tracks may look forward, to an attendance that wiH easily pay obligations contracted this year. For good as the sport has been at Gravesend and Shoepshead Bay the article the Yonkers and Saratoga managements will olTer the public will be better. Belmont Park, Sheepshcad Bay and Gravesend had to depend entirely upon depleted eastern stables to fill their cards. The good horses of the eastern stables will continue to race at Yonkers and Saratoga, and in addition these tracks will have many Western and Canadian campaigners to add variety to tlie racing. The liest of the thoroughbreds that raced at La-tonia are already at Yonkers. Canadian campaigners will not be so plentiful at Yonkers, perhaps, but they will swarm to Saratoga.
