The fact that the Saratoga Association had decided to open the United States Hotel Stakes, Grand Union Hotel Stakes and Spinaway Stakes of 1910 and the Travers Stakes of 1911 for entries was made public recently. This evidence of confidence in the stability of New York racing under its present condition was received with great pleasure by all Interested in the turf. In continuation it is now definitely announced that entries to all of these substantial Stakes will close at midnight of Monday. August 15. and it is now up to owners to get busy. The United States Hotel Stakes and the tlraml Union Hotel Stakes are each of the guaranteed value of ,000. while the Spinawav and the Travers are of the guaranteed value of ,000. . As racing now is this makes them, highly ImiMirtant events of the future and the duty of owners to patronize them to the limit is manifest. The Saratoga Association is to lie congratulated over Its course in acting as pioneer in the offering of stakes of high value to be decided in future years. j
