Ruble broke unexjieetedlv well and was outpaced for half of the journey, but closed a gap at the end and is good. George W. Lebolt ran In nearest and strenuous pursuit, but tired in the final drive for- second place. Personal ran forwardly for live furlongs, but failed to stay, as usual. Quantlco ran moderately well up throughout. Sandpiper, nearly. left, closed a considerable gap. Sundance loomed up on the far turn, but tired and probably was short. Descomuets was never dangerous. Pete ran in brief prominence. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Byzantine, badly outpaced for the first mile, made up ground steadily in the last round and came on and won alone wlieii Grandpas jockey was unseated at the last jump. Marksman showed superior early speed, but tired badlv and was beaten off by the other two when Grandpa gave way and enabled him to be second, beiiig palpably short. Grandpa took the lead at the end of the first mile and held sway by a wide gap. sijeming a certain winner until after landing badly and unseating his rider at the last jump, was then remounted and finished. Malacca ran forwardly, but fell early. The winner was entered for ,000; no .bid. Waldo, from a striding start, was outpaced in the early running, but maintained striking distance pursuit to the stretch and drew out midway home like a shot. Fauntleroy, from an inside slow start and in close quarters, steadily improved his position and got up for second place in the last stride. Amelia Jenks, from au inside poor start, was heuiuied in early, but closed up rapidly in the last half after a wide last turn anil finished fast. Shannon, away badly, closed a big gap and finished a close up fourth. Rocky OBrien set the pace to the stretch and tired. Dalhousie showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Herkimer, a grand looker, hipped the pacemaker under a pull to the stretch, then went very wide and drew out brieilv in the stretch, but tired badly finally. Won handily; Second and tliird driving. Affliction, from a slow start, quickly ran Into forward inside pursuit of the pacemakers and was crowded out on the backstretch, made a quick recovery and was then pocketed in Uie fourth quarter, but came through on the inside and wore the leaders down in the linal strldes. Kings Daughter drew out quickly and made the running to the last couple of strides before she suceumlied. Olauihala. away poorly and pulling up and jerked off his stride frequently in the early running, swerved all over the course in the last quarter, but ran a line race and was best. Bouquet was a game contender for the first mile and tired palpably, was short and is in grand condition. Petticoat, reserved hi .the early running, loomed up well on the far turn, but quit finally. Lady Bedford, after nearest attendance for a mile, failed to stay. Maltbie was hope-lesslv outpaced all the way. Scratched S32042Sir John Johnson. 102; S3034 Berkeley, 90. Miminm drew out quickly and led by a wide gap to the stretch, but finished tiring and just lasted long enough. Imitator ran in striking distance in the early running and just failed to get up in a final stretch rush. Blackford, after inside forward attendance on the pacemakers, was pocketed 011 the stretch turn, then finished well. Darknight. well up throughout, was gaining at the end. Campaigner. luckily and for-wardlv placed, loomed up on the stretcli turii, but tired in the closing drive. John Carroll was never dangerous and outpaced decisively all the way. Captain Swanson ran forwardly throughout, but tired finally. Judge Lapsing, away poorly, closed a ldg gap. Baron Dlesknu steadily improved his position and Is a grand looker and probably a good one.
