i 1 ; : WINNERS OF THE SPINAWAY STAKES Spinaway was a beautiful chestnut fillv hy Leamington Megara that ran in the colors of George Lor-illard in 1880 and so swiftly and successfully that she was justly deemed a marvel. It was In memory of her great achievements that the 0,000 Spinaway Stakes, which will be run at Saratoga this afternoon, was -established. Its first running was in 1881, when It appropriately fell to George Lorillards filly. Memento, a line, licet daughter of Virgil. It was next won by Miss Woodford. on of the greatest mares that ever started in a race. The race was run annually until 1801 and was then discontinued until 1901, since which it has been one of the prominent features cf Saratoga racing.
