TOMMY WRIGHT CLEVER AMATEUR RIDER. Saratoga, N. Y., August 24. In order to head off the victorious Tommy Wright of Baltimore, who seems in a fair way to win all the gentlemen races on the calendar unless something is done to check him, the other non-professionals suggest that the gentlemen jockey races of the future be madn selling handicaps. As long as the gentlemen races are ordinary selling affairs. Tommy Wright and his good horse. Rio Grande, are apt to keep right on winning. XIr. Wright is a first-rate jockey. He-can made 105 pounds without difficulty, and he-rides as well as any professional jockey hereabouts. He is an enthusiastic young horseman and keeps fit by exercising horses every morning. Wright has many times been importuned to take out a professionals license and make a profit out of his natural skill. But he has so far refused to have anything to do with professional riding, and he says he will continue to ride as an amateur.
