CARMAN COLORS IN TEMPORARY ECLIPSE. Saratoga. N. Y., August 24. R. F. Carman has made a strenuous effort this summer to get his good horse. Magazine, to the xst in winning condition without tiring him. But he has about concluded to give up and apply the iron to the leg injured last winter in California, when Magazine was thrown against a fence at Santa Anita and seriously hurt. Magazine is the best horse Mr. Carman ever raced. He is not great, but he is a colt of splendid size and tine speed and he can step a swift mile or mile an an eighth when he is right. - The Carman silks have not finished first in an eastern race this year. Carman has no two-year-olds. He was advised last summer not to put any money in yearlings and he took the advice to his present regret. He will not lie caught without two-year-olds next season. He purchased eleven youngsters last spring and he expects to buy nine or ten others at the autumn sales at Sheepshead Bay.
