IMPERIAL SUPPORT FOR GERMAN RACING. The idea that the Emperor of Germany had no affection for the turf beyond its offering a school of riding for his cavalry officers must have been abandoned. The Emperor, who was to have been the guest of the Union Club, the Jockey Club of Germany, at the Berlin meeting, though unable to attend on the appointed day. has since been present at a banquet among the members, and has accepted the honorary presidency of the club, making a long and interesting speech on the value of racing from the point of view of the national defence. The Emperors example lias been followed, and princes, witli grand dukes, have added their names as members of that society, which has done so much for sport in Germany.
