COMMENT ON FLORIDA SITUATION. Representatives of the race tracks are here and arc said to have a bill to present based on elemosynary lines. It is said that it contemplates a gift of half of the proceeds, either to the State Fair Association when it holds a meeting or to the county in which a meeting is held, and that it has other ostensibly beneficent features in the way of free circus exhibits. The rumor has been current here that a distinct effort would be made to abolish racing through the adoption of the Louisiana statute. Another rumor is that the race track interests would not make any light for an extension, but would endeavor to continue their meetings under a contest in the courts under the present lav. All this, of course, is rumor, and some days will be necessary to develop just the sort of campaign that will lc conducted. Legislative Correspondence Jacksonville Times-Union.
