NOTES OF THE TURF. The Prix Vrdi, run at Saint Onen. in France, yesterday, was won by Nash Turners Five oclock. The Prix Des Iris, one mile and seven-eighths, run at Saint Cloud, in France, Monday, was won by J. E. Wideners Schuyler. At Churchill Downs and Latonia only six pools will be sold in the auction pooling on each race. This, it is figured, will make the auction betting smipjder and eliminate the congestion in the mutuels that is sometimes resultant from the desire of some bettors to wait for developments in the auction pooling. William C. Hayes, a well-known cross-countrr rider and trainer, lias returned from France and speaks in glowing terms of racing on the other side. Mr. Hayes said that Nash Tinner, Winnie OConnor. Ben Rigby and other American horsemen are in their best form and winning races daily. Rampart, tile horse Mr. Hayes shipped abroad last year, went wrong. Mr. Hayes will get together several good chasers this summer and take them to France.
