BOOGER RED TO RACE AGAINST TIME. New York, May 9. Allan Pinkorton believes lie owns the fastest lialf-miler in the world in his fiv.e-year-old horse Booger Red, by Raucocas Ileoley. In order to establish the fact Mr. Pinkerton is trying to arrange a trial against time over the Belmont Park straightaway course for Wednesday if weather and track conditions are favorable. lie says he will invite several dockers of recognized ability to bold watches on Booger Red, which will be sent against tlie American half-mile record of JO, straightaway, made by Geraldine at Morris Park August 30, 1SS9. At Cedarhurst a week ago Booger Bed, packing 10S pounds, showed phenomenal speed in a flat race for galloways, and several days later Mr. Pinkerton decided to time him in a private trial. Trainer C. F. Clark had the little horse in superb condition When be was sent to the mark, and with a heavy exercise boy in the saddle. Booger Red surprised his owner and trainer, going three-eighths in 34j, and finishing out the half mile in the wonderful time of 45s. Booger Red raced on the western tracks as a two-year-old and three-year-old and attracted much attention. Mr. Pinkerton purchased him a year ago for "the purpose of starting him in galloway races at the various hunt meetings, and the investment proved a good one, for the Rancocas horse has beaten everything and is now at the mercy of the handi-capper. He w;as asked to carry 170 pounds in the Combination Plate Handicap at Belmont Park Terminal last Saturday, font was scratched.
