Sand Marsh, which defeated Pemnaat ami Leoeh- iins in the Harford Handicap at Havre de irace, is awasg psaatai for the Excelsior Hanilicap at .lamaiea and the Metropolitan at Itelmont Park. Crimper, which races in the colors of Hal larr of Raltimore, is jointly owned hy Col. Parr and J. S. Co.silen. a young Unrylander, who made a fortune in the Oklahoma oil fields several years ago. Hal Parrs steeplechaser Warlock, ridden hy F. Ambros- Clark, won the four-mile Hunt Club Handicap Saturday morning. The race was run at S oclock and Warlock beat Tatrick by eighth lengths. The latter collapsed after the finish. A petition has been presented to the mayor of Saratoga, suggesting that a chemical fire engine be located outside the Saratoga race track from now until the meeting closes. Saratogians are as anxious to protect the institution from firebugs as is the association. At the present time six watchmen are employed at the track. Preston Burrii wired John Sanford asking if he should engage two watchmen for his stables at Jamaica. Mr. Sanford replied: "Engage four."
