KENTUCKY HANDICAP ATTRACTIONS Good Horses Entered in the Douglas Park and Latonia. Inaugural Handicaps. Louisville, Ky., September 8. Thirty-five, nominations were made to the Douglas Park Inaugural Handicap, the opening feature race of the fall meeting in this city on September 26 and included in the list are some of the best stayers In the country. The affair is at one and one-sixteenth miles, for three-year-olds and over, and it has ,000 added. Among those entered are King Gorin, winner of tlig Kentucky Handicap at Douglas Park last spring; Rancher, holder of the track record for one and one-sixteenth miles at the same track; Star Maid, winner of the Ashland Oaks at Lexington last spring; Colonel Vennle, a consistent stake winner at New Orleans last winter; Kathleen, which recently sold, for a big sum at Saratoga; Holllster and The Cock, two of A. K. Macombers imported thoroughbreds; Fruit Cake, a high-class three-year-old filly; Midway, which finished third in the Kentucky Derby and third in the Latonia Derby; Harry Kelly, upon which John W. Schorr recently set a price In excess of 20,000; Cudgel, winner of the Latonia Independence Handicap and which finished second to Liberty Loan in the Latonia Derby; Butterscotch II., an English colt which showed excellent form at the recent Saratoga meeting, ind Hodge, one of the most consistent, as well as useful, racers in the country. This years nominations show an increase over last fall by six and more high-class horses were named in it than ever before. A. K. Macomber and John W. Schorr each named three horses and the Schorr stable Is placing its chief reliance in three -year-olds as its trio of nominations are horses of that age. Of the thirty-five nominations made sixteen of, them were three-year-olds and some of the best horses of this division in the west are entered. Nine foreign-bred horses are included in the list. Forty-seven were named for the Latonia Autumn Inaugural Handicap, and like the Inaugural at Douglas Park it also showed a gain of six over last fall. This race is also at one and one-sixteenth miles for three-year-olds and over and it has ,000 added. Among the cracks nominated for this event is Old Rosebud, the champion "comeback" in turf history.- The son of U-nclts Ivory Bells won the Inaugural Handicap last spring at the Milldale course. Eighteen of the forty-seven entries for the Autumn Inaugural are three-year-olds. The foreign-bred division has eleven representatives named in the entries. .
