CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Charley Ellison was among the latest arrivals at Louisville from the East. He will rest there while the Lexington meeting is in progress. Jockey J. Hanover lias arrived at Louisville with the Schorr stable and will go to Lexington to ride during the Kentucky Association meeting. The United States government lias leased the old Hawthorne race track and is planning to erect buildings for storage purposes. Good railroad facilities at Hawthorne will make it an excellent army depot. Jockey King Lapallle and his contract employer R. I. Williams have reached a parting of the ways. Lapaille has been spending tin; summer at his home in Louisville. He will ride at Lexington as a free lance. Former Jockey Dan Moriarty was among those drafted for the United States army at Louisville. He passed the physical examination and was accepted. Ho has claimed exemption on the ground of being married, but his claim has not as yet been acted upon.
