0,000 DOMINION HANDICAP Sir Barton, The Porter and Exterminator in Fort Eries Big Race. Second Meeting of Niagara Racing Association Opens Tomor-aL row Under Good Auspices. IT BUFFALO, N. Y., August 9. It begins to look fis if about a dozen crack handicap horses will parade to the post in the Dominion Handicap, the 0,000 added race which will feature the opening of the seven-day meeting at Fort Erie under the auspices of the Niagara Racing Association on Wednesday. Track conditions for the inaugural days sport promises to favor The Porter and Exterminator, both of which will sport colors in the Dominion Handicap. The Porter arrived yesterday morning from Saratoga and jockey OBrien, who will ride him in the big race, accompanied the horse on his trip from the Spa. W. S. Kilmers good handicap horse Exterminator will leave Saratoga this evening, provided his trainer, Simon Healy, can obtain a car. it. G. Bedwell decided yesterday to send on the champion racer in the all aged division, Sir Barton, to carry Commander J. K. L. Boss colors in the Dominion Handicap. The son of. Star Shoot, which a few days back established a Saratoga track record for the mile and a quarter when he ran the distance in 2:01-and, is now on the way here. Wednesdays opening day card will include six other races; in fact, seven races, as usual, will be run every day of the seven-day meeting, and with the attractive overnight purses and the stake races there will be plenty of horses here for the meeting. In fact, the gathering promises to be a record-breaking one in many respects. There are at present several stables quartered at Fort Erie and arrivals are being marked daily. It is paticnlarly flattering to the officials of the Niagara Racing Association to learn of the liberal response to the offerings from a large number of the big stables now being campaigned at Saratoga. Not only are the stakes attractive, but the overnight races are. the most liberal ever offered. It looks like big fields in all of the dashes. There will be separate mutuel machines for American and Canadian -money. The clubhouse, as during the first meeting, will have betting booths for the convenience of patrons. This section of the grounds promises to be as popular this meeting as it was during the first gathering. The big string that W. 0. Burttschell is handling for several owners on the Canadian circuit this summer got in from Hamilton yesterday. His horses shipped well and should be a factor in the overnight handicaps at Fort Erie. The J. W. Schorr horses are due tomorrow. The Schorr colors will be seen finite frequently. Thomas Hodge came over from Hamilton this morning to close a deal for two racers. He purchased of John W. Schorr the plater Dragoon and of J. G. Wagnon the useful colt Sherman A. Bimi horses, which are at Hamilton, will be shipped with the remainder of the Hodge stable to Ottawa, where they will be freshened up for the Connaught Park Jockey Club meeting. Hodge reports that the two-year-oxl .ciinc iieim. which Ms nad a long let-up, is again in splendid condition, and will be seen with the colors at the Montreal meeting. Edward B. McLean, one of Americas most ardent sportsmen", will com on frcm Saratoga to witness the running of the Dominion Handicap, in which his colors will be carried by The Porter. Admiral T. Carey Grayson will accompany Mr. McLiVu as 1 is itxf. Mr. V. S. KilnuT will also come to see the race run, and several other well-known turf celebrities will make the trip here.
