IDLE TIME HAPPENINGS IN KENTUCKY . . f i Fair Meeting at Ashland, Ky., to Be Patronized by Owners Summering at Louisvillo LOUISVILLE, Ky., August 7. Several owners who are summering their horses at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park will ship part of their s tables to Ashland, Ky.. next week for the four days racing, which will be held in connection with the Elks Boyd Ocunty Fair. Among tliem are James Ever-nian, Mrs. J. M. Tubbard and Ahcrn and Boyle. Jockeys Lee Canfield aiid Jack Hanover will also go to Ashland to accept mounts. There will be five races daily there, with a minimum purse value of 00. The Ashland Derby will be worth $.00, while other feature races are scheduled with values, of 00 and00. William Dotidas, who will serve as manager" of the" mc.eting. spent two days here and announced that he had the assurance of a number of owners at Lexington that they will ship to Ashland. . . . The meeting . opens on August 11. Dan Lehan has two yearling fillies at Churchill Downs, one by Ralph Mescal, and the other the progeny of Iluon II. Rronzewlng. lie sent Easter Flower to his farm near .Teffersontown, Ky., where she will be fired. Cobweb, owned by C. W. Clark, is also spending the summer at the Lehan farm. Joe UnienSetter has a suckling filly in his stable at the Downs by Golden Maxim Iviva. The mare and her offspring will be sent to a neighbor-r ing farm within a few days. Umensetter had Texas Special unsexed recently, and he looks better than in a loiig while. He will be ready for autumn racing. Omond. owned by M. Quinn of Kansas City, was brought back from Latonia by James Evemian, and since bis arrival here he has been fired. Everman expects to have him ready for a hard campaign when trainer Pat Dunne comes back to Kentucky from Saratoga. George J. Long is contemplating selling most of his Bashford Manor yearlings this year. A majority of them are the progeny of Sain, and since Mr. Longs intention to dispose of them became known he has received quite a few offers for them individually and collectively. The Long yearlings have not been brought In from the farm yet, as Ulio" main division :of tile--stable under the- care of trainer Pete Coyne is still at Latonid. C. E. Rowe, who is summering the fast filly Miss Jemima at Douglas Park, recently returned from a two weeks visit to his home in New Orleans. Rowe was taken ill during the latter part cf the Latonia meeting, and for that reason decided to rest his horses instead of making a New York campaign with them as he had originally planned. Alex B. Gordon, who brought the Frank C. Bain horses here for tiie summer, left for Saratoga to confer with his employer. Patches, which went amiss early in the Latonia meeting, is doing well now and appears likely to be ready for autumn racing.
