RACEHORSE NAMES FOR BATTLESHIPS Looking through the names of our Warships which appear in the newly issued navy list for the first time for four years, writes "Beachcomber" in the London Express, I was struck by one or two that seemed familiar in another connection. Rock Sand and Spearmint wera the first two that I noticed, and by searching carefully I found six others that are named after, famous race horses Ladas, Bend Or, Ormonde, Sceptre, Sir Bevys and Ard Patrick. I have heaid of a first lord who consulted "Lcmprieres Classical Dictionary" wheii called on to name new sliiands, but this must surely-be the first time that the great minds of the admiralty have turned for inspiration to the turf guides.
