AKIN, away forwaiidly, was outpaced in the early running, but I gradually improved his position on the inside and. finishing with a rush under a vigorous ride, wore 1, ARNOLD down and won in the last few strides. ARNOLD set a fast pace nearly all the way. but was tiring at the finish. FREDERICK THE GREAT was always a prominent contender, and made a game effort on the stretch turn, but tired finally. OUR FLAG was a forward contender all the way and outstayed GUVNOR in the final drive. The latter rushed into the lead quickly and set a great pace, but quit badly when challenged. FRIZLET was under restraint for the first half mile, but failed to respond when called on. UNDER FIRE began slowly, but raced next to the inner rail all the way and, closing a big gap. finished fast and gamely. BRIDESMAN, away badly, raced wide in the early running. but finished with a rush when straightened out in the homestretch. DONNACONA, under slight restraint in the early running, could not improve his position when called on and ran a poor race. COURTSHIP retired in the last quarter. CHASSEUR set a fast early pace. GRAYSSIAN showed early speed. The latter was forced to race wide, but closed up gamely in the last eighth. POLLY ANN raced next to the rail all the way and outstayed STEP LIGHTLY. The latter ran well, but tired in the closing strides. PANTALETTE closed a gap and quit.
