MODEST STABLE OF W. M. JEFFORDS STEEPLECHASER BARKLIE THE LARGEST CONTRIBUTOR TO THE 1,693 WON DURING THE YEAR In 1919 the W. M. Jeffords horses won 7,394 for their owner. This year they won 1,093. So on a comparative basis, it can be held that Mr. Jeffords had a satisfactory year on the turf, there being no horse of better than the useful class racing under his colors. The steeplechaser Barklie proved his best money gatherer and ranks high among out best jumpers. Next to him Routledge did best, and when just right was a fast colt. The Ferole two-year-old Snare won three of his eight races and decidedly more than paid his way. On his record as a two-year-old something good in racing might have. been expected from the three-year-old Hoodwink, but, he belied his early promise and. could do nothing effective.
