RETURNS COLT HOPELESS FORT ERIE, Ont, August 8. Jefferson Livingston has turned back the two-year-old Hopeless to II. P. Headley and he was shipped to Saratoga by trainer T. L. Pierce to join the Headley string at that point. Hopeless was sold by Will Perkins to Livingston at Kenilworth Park previous to the running of one of his stake engagements, and when Mr. Headley learned of the transaction he refused to accept Mr. Livingstons check and demanded the return of the colt, claiming that Perkins had acted without his ; authority and consent.
