LATEST LEXINGTON GOSSIP Joe Notter Arrives From New NewYork York News of Stud Farms Lucky Hour Goes East Soon LEXINGTON Ivy February 26 Joe Not ¬ ter former star rider now a trainer arrived hero last night from New York to spend a couple of days looking at horses that he may arrange to campaign this year He reports that horses in the liast are backward in their preparation on account of the weather but they probably are no more so than are the horses in this section for the same reason reasonIt It is raining here today and the footing at the Kentucky Association track again is muddy muddyJohn John A Payne of Cincinnati who was here today en route to Frankfort on business stated that his good mare Olga Star by Star Shoot has a fine chestnut filly by Fore ¬ ground a good St Simon horse that is owned by J K L Hoss He has decided to mate Olga Star with Wrack at A B Hancocks Claiborne Stud this season and it is likely that he also will send Conduct a daughter of The White Knight to the same stallion Messrs Payne and West have eleven mares at Ken ton Farm near Covington ten of which he says are In foal They will be mated this season with Thunderstorm the brother to Campfire which now is at Ken ton Farm FarmJ J B Respcss and Rud Varwig also will send several mares each to this young horse horseJohn John E Madden has purchased the year ¬ ling colt by Huon II Zenita from Harry Burgoyne The mare Gleam which Bur goyne bought out of C Bruce Heads con ¬ signment to the last sale here has a chest ¬ nut colt by Master Robert RobertTrainer Trainer Charles H Hughes is making prep ¬ arations for the shipment of Lucky Hour My Play and a couple of other horses that have been running out at Xalapa Farm They will go to lames McClelland at one of the eastern tracks Colonel Phil Chinn I land wife have gone to New Orleans to spend a couple of weeks
