day as was the case last year yearIt It is conceded on all sides that in electing to defer the running of the fortyninth Ken ¬ tucky Derby until the second Saturday of the coming spring meeting of the Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs general manager Matt T Winn made a master stroke that will prove popular with the public and horsemen alike alikeThe The Kentucky Derby which closed Satur ¬ day will have an added money value of 50 000 with an addendum of approximately 5000 in gold plate It will be run on May 19 and it will be found when the returns from the numerous sources from which en ¬ tries may reasonably be expected that it will have attracted not only all of the best twoyearolds of last year but many of those which failed for one reason or another as juveniles but which have
