FIRE AT BROOKDALE FARM Stud Escapes Any Injury but the theLewis Lewis S Thompson Home Is IsEntirely Entirely Destroyed NEW YORK N Y February 28 Brook dale Farm on which are Harry Payne Whit ¬ neys breeding and training stables at Little Silver N J was the scene of a 200000 fire Sunday when the threestory frame home of Lewis S Thompson was destroyed with virtually all its contents contentsAt At no time was any part of the racing establishment endangered as all the build ¬ ings of the stud farm are a half mile away from Mr Thompsons home Effective woik by firemen in playing streams of water on buildings threatened by flying sparks and embers confined the fire to the home homeNeither Neither Mr nor Mrs Thompson were there He is at his shooting lodge in Georgia and she is visiting relatives at Madison Wis WisMr Mr Thompson is a wealthy sportsman keenly interested in racing and blooded dogs The bulk of his fortune inherited from hs father is understood to have consisted of Standard Oil stock He and Mrs Thomp ¬ son who was Miss Geraldine L Morgan are well known in social circles here They main ¬ tain a city home at 904 Park Avenue AvenueQuick Quick response by volunteer departments from all nearby towns supplied the most thrilling feature Altogether there were four ¬ teen pieces of apparatus present The towns represented were Red Bank Rumson Shrews bury Eatontown Belford Freehold and Holmdel HolmdelThe The fire was discovered by a maid It was between the ceiling and the flooring above the living room which is on the first floor It is believed to have been caused by an electric light wire which became short cir ¬ cuited cuitedThe The fire fed by dry beams and lathing was already beyond control before any fire ¬ men arrived They concentrated on saving other buildings and carrying out some pieces of furniture from the house It contains twenty or more rooms Almost all of the contents including precious tapestries rugs paintings and other works of art were de stroyed
