EASY FOR BULLET PROOF ♦ Second Consecutive Victory at Maple Heights in Feature Race. ♦ Another Large Crowd Present — Lasting Love, Spectator, Anticipate and Ardito Among the Winners. CLEVELAND, Ohio. May 15.— C. B. Sharers Helmet gelding Bullet Proof scored his second consecutive victory at the Maple Heights track of the Ohio State Jockey Club when jockey Sharpe landed him an easy winner in the Winton Hotel Handicap at three-quarters, which featured the racing this aft-ernoon. J. McMillans Raffles was second, beaten five lengths, and L. Gentrys Macbeth was third, a length and a half farther back. Elemental set the pace for the first half mile of the journey, with Raffles and Bullet Proof in close attendance and this order was maintained to the far turn, where Elemental retired, giving way to Bullet Proof and Raffles, but the Shafer entry easily held Raffles safe in the run through the stretch, going away at the end. Another large gathering journeyed to the track, which was fetlock deep in mud as a sequel to the recent heavy rains that visited this section and which have been primarily responsible for the small fields. Good racing was the order, however, most of the finishes being closely contested. Mrs. A. Morgans Lasting Love scored again in the opening clash when she outpaced Vanity Bag and Lady Winfrey. The victory of Spectator came in the nature of a surprise in the second race. The favorite. Anticipate, made a runaway affair of the third, and Ardito, after following his opponents to the stretch turn, came on to win in handy fashion in the fourth. J. A. Gibson will ship to Woodbine Park tonight. Jockey D. Stirling will accompany this stable. Jockey A. Fraley leaves for the same point. Entries for the stakes at the meeting of the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition at Omaha will close June 1. The following horsemen will leave for that point at the conclusion of this meeting: J. Gass, 4; J. Randolph, 4; E. Rice, 2: J. H. McCool, 3; J. Lenahan. 2; L. Erb, 3. and J. Brown. 2, including the good three-year-old Peter Brown. Kimball Patterson will ship to Toronto. Included in his string are Evelyn Sawyer, Pennon and Topango. The string of R. War field will be shipped to Montreal tomorrow. J. Bishop, well-known horseman, is reported ill at St. Alexis Hospital, Cleveland. J. T. Abrams wired from Youngstown to reserve stables for sixteen head, which he will ship here tonight. Jockey J. Pevic will accompany the string.
