CHANGE IN WHE ATHER Reduces Attendance and Size of the Fields at Latonia. Feature Declared Off and Another Race Substituted Jockey I. Parke on Three Winners. LATONIA. Ky., Oct 30. A change In weather brought heavy track conditions and the chilling blasts that wafted over the course caused the decreased attendance to seek sheltered points. Because of the change in track conditions the field were reduced to small numbers and the more sturdier type of racer was given preference. The racing, despite several drawbacks, was interesting, several spirited finishes enlivening proceedings. The feature race, because of many withdrawals, had to be declared off and a mile and seventy yards dash substituted. The juvenile dash, at three-quarters, bringing together some fairly good youngsters, found Glide again a winner. She got up in the last few strides after a game effort to down Margaret Lawrence. The latter had taken command when reaching the stretch and seemed to have the race in her grasp, but weakened suddenly in the final strides and barely outstayed Sun Spot for second place. CHARLES HEIfBT FALLS AGAIN. The introductory race found Charles Henry again installed a favorite and again a disappointing one, for he failed of even getting a portion of the purse. On his showing today he has lost much of his former form. He flattered during the early part briefly, but was at all times outrun by Batty H. The latter won snugly from Ben Valet, which came with a good rush during the stretch. Spats might have been more formidable, but for the poor ride that he had from the incompetent, T. Brothers. Backers of favorites fared in better style in the second race when they supported Devil Girl. That filly, under Pools energetic handling, moved promptly into the lead and won by a big margin. An interesting duel came in the third between Anonymous and Tender Seth, the pair dominating the running -from the start. Wallace, on Anonymous, proved Pevics master, when it came to riding and Anonymous won by a scant neck, though Tender Seth seemed the better. "Wallace subjected Tender Seth to interference on several occasions and at one stage bluffed Pevic into taking back and go around. It was triclcy riding, but "within the law" and it gained him the victory. Plus Ultra, highly regarded, found the weight impost more than he could concede the leading pair. HEP A SURPRISE. In the substitute race, Rep furnished the surprise. He was in his best form today and, liking the going, moved into the lead soon after the start and Garner kept him there to the finish. Tody made a valiant effort to dislodge him of the lead, but it was unavailing. There was smart action for Sister Flo in the race, but again Pevic got all befuddled and handled his mount with poor judgment. Jockey Parke followed up his success scored on Glide with a victory in the next race on Untried. He took her into the lead with a rush arid thereafter under hustling tactics kept her before Tony Beau, which disputed leadership in strenuous style. Ten Sixty outstayed the others for third place. Parkes superior riding skill cost J. B. Respess a purse in the closing dash when Hold Me won by a scant half a length over Make Up. The latter was pounds the best, but Pevio almost fell off of him and his effort toward the end was decidedly amateurish. Pevic started out in the earlier part of the meeting with great promise, but he has lost all semblance of good form. It was the third winner that Parke rode consecutively and his following left the course rejoiceful. Kinburn, a stanchly backed one in the race, never figured seriously in the running, third place going to Poppye. "Win. Cain, owner, was fined 50 for assaulting W. Rcid, a jockey in his employ.
