JUDGE C ALLEN RECOVERING TORONTO, Ont, Oct 30. Judge Peter E. Callen is improving rapidly and is expected by his physician to be walking about inside of two weeks, according to word brought to Toronto today from Akron, where he is confined to a hospital. Judge Callen was injured at the time Judge Fred W. Gerhardy was fatally shot by trainer M. "Slim" Webb a week ago last Saturday. Due to judge Callens weakened condition it was found necessary to resort to blood transfusion. Al Wisewell Jr., an employee in the mutuels on the E. E. Pohlman circuit upon which judge Callen was serving at the time of his injury, gave the blood which saved the mans life.
