c t i 1 5 1 I : j , j i ; j , : j : I : ; New Worlds Record for Turf Winnings A new worlds record for turf winnings was established yesterday. The honor belongs to the Rancocas Stable. Back in 1907 the superbly-bred Castleton Stud racers of the late James R. Keene startled the entire racing world by their glorious achievements on the race course and before being retired to winter quarters had credited that foremost American turfman with the unprecedented winnings of 97,342, the largest sum won in a single year in this or any other country. That great record stood until yesterday, when Zev, the largest , money winner of the American turf, won the Pimlico Serial Weight-for-Age Race at Pim-lico and thereby increased the Rancocas Stable winnings to 99,024. It was Colin, Peter Pan, Ballot, Superman and a host of other brilliant stars that were responsible for the Keene record, but for the Rancocas Stable it was principally due to the marvelous Zev that it now enjoys-its. new laurels. A comparison of the records of the two great stables, James R. Keene in 1907 and the Rancocas Stable in 1923, should prove interesting in view of their wonderful achievements.
