May 14— It is a new Churchill Downs that will stage the famous old Kentucky Derby this year. Colonel Matt Winn has accomplished wonders in making over the old course and It is the last word in race track construction. No expense has been spared in the enlarging of the stands. There have been addi- • tions made to the accommodations that should readily take care of a crowd of more than 75,000. Indications are that all of the commodious additions to the stands will be needed, from the reservations that have been made. With S00 additional clubhouse boxes, all were sold weeks ago, and colonel Winn said today that he had requistions for 800 more that he could not fill. Louisville is already filled with visitors who have come to remain for the Derby, and Chicago alone will send no fewer than fifty special trains to the Golden jubilee of the famous old race. Major August Belmont, chairman of the jockey Club, has announced his intention of being here and there was a hope expressed today that he would send his good colt. Ordinance, for the race. George D. Widener and Joseph K. Wide- ner, of Philadelphia, will be here, as will Walter J. Salmon and Edward B. McLean. Oeorge H. Bull is already here and Charles H.
