j , , , , , BUCADO AND JOCKEY SMITH Prove Winning Combination in Toledos Feature Race Double for Padgett and Dougherty. TOLEDO, Ohio, Aug. 23. Running in his best form Bucado, from the stable of Padgett and Dougherty, annexed the Toledo Blade Purse, todays feature at Fort Miami. Smith rated the winner off the fast early pace and the son of Honeywood responded gamely when called upon and catching Right on Time midway of the stretch drew away to a handy victory. Right on Time held on de-termidly but could not withstand the winners challenge though he held second place safe from The Plainsman, which finished fast after meeting with some interference. The victory of Bucado marked the second success of the day for the Padgett and Doug-erty establishment, they having won the fifth race with Old Pop. Both were admirably ridden by jockey W. Smith. The largest crowd of the meeting was present and seemed to enjoy the sport immensely. The track was again in its best condition and the weather was ideal for outdoor sport. It develops that after the race which the horse The Colonel won at Maple Heights on August 2, he was found to be ineligible and the winners share of the purse was awarded to Jetsam, which finished second in that race. This left Jetsam ineligible to. the last race at Toledo today, in which he was entered, and as a result he was ordered scratched by the stewards. The following notice was posted at the secretarys office today: "Commencing Saturday, August 23, a fine of ten dollars will be assessed against any owner who fails to name a rider on a starter before 8 :30 a. m. the day of the race." Signed "A. G. LEONARD," "Presiding Steward." A section of the stable of S. N. Holman arrived today from "Windsor in charge of C. Forsythe. It included Banker Brown, Times Up and Winsome Lady. Jockey P. Groos accompanied the string.
