GOV. SMITH AT THE BACES SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 23. Governor Smith, accompanied by his family, was an interested spectator of the races during the afternoon, coming from Albany by motor as the guest of president Richard T. Wilson. The governor was looking in the best of health and full of his golfing outing at Bretton Woods. He held a levee on the clubhouse balcony, where he was greeted by his many friends. "Its nice to be here and I would come often if I could spare the time," was his comment when he was told that his presence at the track was welcomed by the friends of the turf. Most of the afternoon was spent shaking hands with friends and well wishers from all parts of the state. He was one of the most deeply interested in the races and expressed his pleasure when told that two of the feature races had been won by horses bred in the Empire state.
