HA WTHORNE News and Gossip of the Day at Chicagos Famoas Track HAWTHORNE RACE TRACK, Aug. 23. The stables of Kay Spencc, Will Perkins and J. J. Holtman will be shipped to Latonia Tuesday, September 2. Will Perkins and Frederick Grabncr,- who went to Saratoga to attend the yearling sales, returned here Saturday morning. Perkins reported that he had purchased five good looking youngsters at the sales. R. D. Robson has turned his good two-year-old filly, Riviera, over to Jake Holtman to train. The filly will not be able to race again at this meeting, as she is suffering with a high temperature. Jockey Harry Stutts will leave next Friday for Saratoga to ride the J. E. Madden entry in the Hopeful Stakes next Saturday. He will return to Hawthorne, in time to accept mounts Labor Day. Jockey J. Wood has been released by the International stable and will depart Sunday night for Canada where he will ride. Woods recent work was of such poor nature that his contract employer was forced to suspend the jockey. For a while he allowed him to accept outside mounts but it did not seem to improve him any, hence the parting of the ways. The International stable originally bought Woods contrast for ,500. Wood is at present a free agent. , ;
