TORONTOS NEWEST TRACK Orpen Interests Declare Course Will Be Ready for Fall Meetings. TORONTO, Ont., Aug. 23. Torontos newest race course. Long Branch, is well under way, but the hullabaloo which usually accompanies the start of a new track is missing. Many have been skeptical since the news was given out, but a trip to Long Branch will convince the doubting Thomas that the Orpen interests mean business. It is on Kingsbury avenue. Long Branch, and already a dining hall, 80 by 80, that will accommodate 200, is erected and the framework of a grandstand which will seat 7,000 when completed, and it will only be a short time until it is ready for occupation. Seven stables, each containing forty-eight stalls, are in progress of construction and. on the end of each, feed rooms and quarters for the stable- help are being attached. The paddock is to be of steel construction and bleacher seats erected there. A gallery connected with the stand will be constructed around the paddock and the horses can be looked over witi the minimum of trouble. The track for "the two meetings to be held in the fall will be a half-mile in length, with a chute that will enable mile races to be run. Next year it is the intention to build a new mile track completely around the half-mile one.
