LATONIAS GRAND MEETING Total of 68,035 Distributed During 31 Days of Racing. Fair Stable of Mrs. W. K. Vandcrbllt III. Leading Money Winner Sarazen and Chilhowee Outstanding Heroes. The Latonia autumn meeting of 1924 was one of the greatest ever held at that popular course. There were thirty-one days of racing and 217 races decided. The Kentucky Jockey Club distributed the imposing sum of 5468,035, a daily average of 5,097, in stakes and purses. The International Special No. 3, in which Sarazen defeated the French champion, Epinard, in one of the. fastest races ever run at the mile and a quarter distance in this or any other country, was the outstanding feature of the meeting and attracted a tremendous crowd, which included visitors from every part of the United States. The Latonia Championship was a befitting finale for this glorious meeting and, though Chil-howee won this valuable fixture in easy fashion, the race was a remarkable one from a time standpoint when a new American record for a mile and three-quarters was established. The same Chilhowee reduced another American time mark a few days previous when he smashed all known previous records for a mile and an eighth. The Fair Stable of Mrs. W. K. Tanderbilt. because of Sarazens success, leads the money-winning owners, of whom the following Avon ,000 or more each: Owner. 1st. 2d. 3d. Amt.
