ANNOUNCE STAKES FOR 1925 Belmont Park Offers Tempting Array of Rich Fixtures. Entries for Metropolitan Suburban and Other Well Known Races Close for dominations November 20. NEW YORK, N. T., Nov. 1. Racing secretary V. E. Schaumburg will in a few days distribute in this country the entry blanks for the various fixtures to be run at Belmont Park next year, with a few that will be decided as late as 1927, the Belmont and Lawrence Realization closing for that year. Nominations will be due Nov. 20. Foremost among the races to be run during the spring meeting of 1925 are the Metropolitan and Suburban Handicaps, the former at a mile with an added value of 5,000, and the latter at a mile and a quarter with 7,500 added. The management will be applauded in their decision to revive the old custom of having Mr. Vosburgh announce the weights for these races on Feb. 1, instead of a few days before their running. This will give the public an opportunity to discuss the chances of their favorites for months before the running of the tests which in a bygone period were coupled with the Brooklyn -Handicap and designated as the "Big Three." When speculation in the open was permitted various books were made on these handicaps during the winter and this added to the general interest in racing. Every move of the various candidates during the spring was chronicled and each animal had his or her army of followers. CHANGES IN CONDITIONS. Material changes have been made in the conditions of these races. Graduated penalties will be applied and no penalty shall hold to a three-year-old handicapped at 115 pounds, nor shall any old horse incur a penalty if his original handicap has been 130 pounds or more. For those handicapped between 115 and 122 pounds penalties shall apply to the extent of one-half. Those between 122 and 130 pounds, penalties shall apply to the extent of one-quarter. Nominations will also be due for 192G for three-year-olds now yearlings the Withers. ,000 added, the Coaching Club American Oaks, ,500 added and Cup and the Lawrence Realization, ,500 added now yearlings. As has already been stated, the Belmont Stakes and Lawrence Realization for 1927 will close at the same time. The Jockey Club Gold Cup at two miles, to be run at the autumn meeting of 1925, will also close on Nov. 20. It is for three-year-olds and upwards over the two mile route. The value of the race, it has 0,000 added, thus making it one of the best distance races of the year, renders it a prize of importance from a monetary viewpoint, though the prestige its winning conveys is its most desirable asset for the stud. Geldings are barred from this fine test, Avhich was framed in order to bring out the qualities it is desired to perpetuate in our thoroughbred family.
