LAURELS SPLENDID MEETING President Jenkins Says Maryland State Fair Racing Was Big Success. LATTREL, Md., Nov. 1. "I wish to express my thankfulness and appreciation at the close of a wonderful race meeting at Laurel Park," said Spalding Lowe Jenkins, president of the Maryland State Fair. "The Maryland State Fair has much to be thankful for and personally it has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life to have had the honor to preside over this meeting. "The association has been most fortunate in having had perfect weather throughout the meeting, and a track for the horses to run over that has been perfect, with the exception of one or two days. I consider myself most fortunate in having had the co-operation of the horsemen and of the working staff In all departments of the association. "I should like to express publicly my appreciation of such support and to thank all concerned, including the newspapers and the members of the press. Of course, I want to thank "the weather man" for having handed out his very best brand. "Harry Stevens and his staff are to be complimented on the catering service. The patrons of the trade have had the best of attention and service from this department of the race course, which is always important. And I think that the patrons of Laurel have had the very best in the way of racing that could be offered. We have had the best horses in the country and interesting contests have resulted. Work under the conditions that have prevailed throughout the meeting of 1924 has been more of a pleasure than a task." ;
