KING GEORGES NEW RIDER J. Childs to Succeed Herbert Jones as First Jockey for English Ruler. SPECIAL CAB LE GUAM. LONDON, England, Nov. 5. J. Childs Avill ride as first jockey for His Majesty next year. Childs, Avho has for a number of years been recognized as one of the leading horsemen, was born at Chantilly, the famous French training center, but served his apprenticeship Avith T. Jennings at Newmarket Among the many successes Childs has gained Avere Aictories in the Substitute Derby on Fifinella and Gainsborough, in -the Oaks on Mirska, Bayuda, Love in Idleness and Fifinella. Childs Avas successful in the St. Leger on Hurry On and Gainsborough and he also Avon this classic at Doncaster on Pole March. Other successes include the GoodAvood Cup and Princess of Wales Stakes on Triumph, Goodwood Stakes on Haki, and the Eclipse Stakes on Buchan, in addition to many Aictories in big handicaps. The kings jockey before Childs appointment Avas Herbert Jones, Avho Avas taken seriously ill last year and has not been able to ride since. Jones Avon the Derby for King Edward on Diamond Jubilee in 1900 and 1909. Since his illness there has been no regular first jockey to the Royal Stable. AVragg rides the lighter Aveights and has a retainer. Archibald has frequently donned the Kings colors.
