SCORES BY CLOSE MARGIN June Fly Earns Head Decision in Thrilling Finish at Beulah Park. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 5. A featureless card was provided at Beulah Park this afternoon. The best field of the seven claiming races paraded in the concluding dash, but due to scratching was reduced to six starters. The finish was productive of a thriller, however, when June Fly, showing sudden improvement, earned a head decision over Clock Stocking. June Fly drew away into a long lead rounding the stretch turn, but jockey Wood all but tossed the race off! He was taking things decidedly easy in the closing stages when Clock Stocking finished with a rush and all but nipped the winner at the end. Pretext outgamed The Almoner for third place. Bethlehem Steel, displaying vast improvement, outran her opponents throughout the sixth race. Quaver, the favorite, came from far back to get second place. Miracle Man was another that came with a rush and never left the result in serious doubt in the fifth. Holly boy and Black Foot also won in a runaway fashion. Keaolani and Tricks found stiffer opposition in their races and got home only after hard struggles. Judge Hickman, pronounced favorite, pulled up lame after the second race. T. W. Whiteside and W. E. Jones will ship from here to Bowie at the close of this meeting on Saturday. A special horse train will also leave for Tijuana and Havana conveying stables for the winter meetings at these points. E. W. Moore, Gene Lutz and many others will ship to New Orleans.
