ENGLISH TURF NOTES Belle Fille, aged, by Warlingham Nanci- . bcl, has been sent to the stud. V. Smith and G. Hulme leave early in December for a holiday in South Africa. i Jilted 5 years, by Stedfast Naughty Jill, has left Epsom for the. stud. Poets Dream, Menlough Castle and Shingled have left Beverly for shipment to India. It is stated that M. J. Wittouck has engaged W. Lister as his first jockey for next year. Pumice Stone 2 years, has left the Burnt-wood Stud for shipment to South Africa. Pasha and Thalian left Newmarket, the former going to Lord Westmorlands stable and Thalian to Althorp Park. Paper Currency, at one time a well-known runner in this country, is reported to have broken down while taking part in a selling race at Zellick. Confirmation was obtained of the appointment of Walter Earl as trainer to Mr. S. 1J. Joel. He goes to Newmarket at the end of the season to take charge of Mr. Joels horses. . The brothers Leader saddled the Grays-town Lily filly and Zaza, respectively, to dead-heat for the Palatine Selling Plate, at Liverpool recently. Until quite close homn Zaza appeared to be winner, and the general impression was that the unnamed youngster had not quite got on terms, but the angle of the finish of the sprint course is most misleading here. Anticipations that the two-year-old, Hand from Heaven, would beat the older horses in the Breadsall Selling Plate at Derby were amply borne out, for the youngster had always got the race won as soon as the field could be discerned leaving the fog. That something is thought of Hand from Heaven is evident from the fact that Mr. Sol Joel gave ,500 to retain him. An application to the stewards of the turf club of the I. N. H. S. committee, from Capt-D. Corry, for removal of disqualification for violation of Rule ISO ii, Rules of Racing, and Rule 173, I. N. H. S. Rules, in connection with his participation at illegal or unrecognized meetings, was acceded to, on the understanding that his statement to the effect that he had not participated at an illegal meeting during the past twelve months was correct Reggio, for the Liverpool Autumn Cup, had been most leniently treated, but he is an awkward horse for a light weight to ride round a turning course, and the only fear his trainer had was that he might be too much of a handful for ycung Leach. This fear was justified by the result, for the horse just got his head in front in the straight, but the stronger riding of Weston on Sierra Leone decided the issue. The winner had not had too clear a course, and, in fact, was twice boxed in, but Weston was fortunate in getting out of his difficulties, and Sierra Leone was probably a somewhat lucky winner. Several important structural changes aro in hand at Prestbury Park, and when tha National Hunt fixture in March arrives, visitors to this popular meeting will find that the stand space in Tattersalls enclosure has been greatly extended, and the luncheon-room accommodation increased appreciably. It has also been-thought necessary to add further to the general comfort of the increasing membership, and to this end a new glass-covered court yard, with windscreens, is under construction to fill the hitherto vacant space between the members buffet and the Earl of Coventrys stand. Thus will be completed one of the finest ranges of stands in the Kingdom. Captain John Fergusson, the well known Delamere Forest trainer, was married at the Marylbone Register Office, London, to Miss Violet Thornton. They later attended the memorial service at Westminster Abbey, after which they held a reception at the Ritz Hotel. Lord Wavetree, Sir Philip Egerton and other society people were present. Captain Fergussons establishment has sent out several important winners, including Iron Hand, the winner of the Ebor Handicap in 1920. His patrons include Lord and Lady Wavetree and Arthur Knowles. In earlier days he headed the list of amateur riders for several seasons and rode many notable winners. He at one time was manager of the late C. Bower Ismays racing stud, and achieved considerable success.
