GOOD FILLY VRANA IS DEAD LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 5. Following a brief illness of lung fever, Vrana, star three-year-old filly of Commander J. K. L. Ross stable, died in winter quarters at Churchill Downs. The death of the home-bred daughter of Marathon Priscilla Mullens is a sever blow to the Canadian turfman, not alone because of her value in dollars and cents, but her worth as a stud matron. She was the first foal of Priscilla Mullens, one of the best race mares of her day. - Vrana, in fourteen starts this year, won six races and was second five times. She was out of the money in the other three starts. As a two-year-old she won four of her eleven starts, was second twice and third twice.
