MOONEYS LICENSE REVOKED Rough Riding Tactics Bring Punishment Further Entry of Arabian Ordered Refused. NEW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 5 After the finish of the fifth race on Thursday, in which Arabian beat Cloister by a nose, jockey Mergler complained that jockey J. A. Mooney had grabbed his leg just before the horses passed under the wire. After investigating the matter the stewards are of the opinion that Mooney was guilty and have revoked his license. On account of the form reversal shown by Arabian, having been beaten by Cloister twelve lengths cn December 2, the stewards ordered that his further entry be refused at this meeting. The prompt action of the stewards in revoking the license of the offending jockey after they were convinced that he was guilty of violating a racing rule and the summary action with regards to Arabian for his acrobatic performance met with general favor from the racing patrons. The drastic and prompt action will have a salutory effect on those who at times play loose and fast and have heretofore gone unpunished. The vigilance of the stewards and their promptness to act in matters is in line with the new era of racing here. Clean, wholesome sport is the aim and desire of both managements and their stewards will in no wise be hampered in their official duties. j
