i GREAT DEMAND FOR HORSES Thoroughbreds for Polo, Hunters and Saddle Horses — Chicago Owners New Trainer. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 14.— William Woodward during the last few days has shipped three horses suitable for polo mounts to officers at Fort Tholasky and two thoroughbreds for hunting purposes to parties in the East Woodward now i3 making his headquarters at Lexington and is engaged in buying polo ponies, hunters and saddle horses for patrons throughout the country. "The demand for riding horses is very much greater than the supply," said Mr. Woodward this morning, "but thus far I have been able to fill the orders I have received, though I have had to do a great deal of scouting to find them. The demand for polo mounts is increasing. Many more persons now are playing the healthful game." Jimmie Ackerman came over from Louisville this morning on instructions from John C Shanks of Chicago and turned over to Jack MePherson the five-year-old Lord Granite and the two-year-old King Granite at the Kentucky Association track. They were wintered in Howard Oots stable, but Oots a few days ago shipped East the h or sea he is training for J. C. Brady, owner of Hamilton Farm in New Jersey. Raymond M. Dale of Crystal Springs Farm, an authority on thoroughbred horse pedigrees, mating, blood lines and conformation, and an entertaining writer on these subjects, departed tonight for Washington to spend a week with Admiral Grayson, Mont-ford Jones and others who are breeding thoroughbreds in Virginia.
