Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of April 26, 1905 Racing at Jamaica, Pimlico, Nashville, Kan-fas City, San Francisco, and Union Park and Fair Grounds at St. Louis. P. M. Civill left St. Louis today with Pretension, heading for Chicago. Pretension will start in the Primal Handicap at Worth Sat- 1 urday. The layers of odds are reaping a harvest at the Jamaica track. Yesterday six favorites went down to defeat, while today five of them were beaten. The winners have had scant backing in any instance. Reports from the New York Hospital speak favorably for jockey Fuller, who was injured by the fall from Witfull in the Excelsior Handicap yesterday at Jamaica. It is stated that he will be able to ride again within a week. Ivan the Terrible, after his race in the mile handicap today at Nashville, was announced as a certain starter in the Kentucky Derby. Mr. Darden says he will give him one more race before he gees to Louisville and the probabilities are that he will start in the Citizens Handicap Saturday. R. L. Rogers will ship his entire string from here to Chicago tomorrow. Garnish will start in the Primal Handicap, to be run the opening day at Worth. This horse is at his best just now and if the track should be even a trifle heavy, he is almost certain to be one of the contenders in the race. Mondays racing at Elm Ridge Park, Kansas City, brought out two developments rather important to the western turf. In the fourth race Charlie Ellison identified himself with the American Turf Association by starting Lady Navarre. His extrance to the so-called "outlaw" band was auspicious, as Lady Navarre romped home an easy winner. The chestnut colt Fuletta won the first race, celebrating the first victory of M. H. Tichenor and Co. since they gave their support to the Corrigan forces. Tichenors stable is another of the strongest in the West and has of course become an outlaw with the Western Jockey Club".
