RICHARD MARSH IS HONORED I was present at the little function which took place at the Masonic Hall, Newmarket, on Thursday, when Mr. Richard Marsh., formerly the Kings trainer, was presented with a cheque for £3435, together with an album bearing the following inscription : — "Presented to Richard Marsh on the occasion of his retirement after fifty years training at Newmarket. 1875 — 1925." In making the presentation. Sir Walter Gilbey said that Mr. Marsh had raised the standard of trainera in England. He was not .only a very great trainer, but he had the esteem and honor of all his fellow-trainers. The members of the "Ring" had sent a most liberal donation, and the cheque would serve to buy Mr. Marsh the house in which he was going to live in at Shelford. They all hoped to see him frequently at Newmarket and other race meetings, in the future. The same evening at the Victoria Mansions, Newmarket, Lord Lonsdale presented Mr. W. S. Barrett, station-master at Newmarket South station, with a testimonial from owners, trainers, and breeders of racehorses in recognition of his unfailing courtesy during the twenty-five years he had been stationmastcr there. — Audax in London Horse and Hound. —A
