June IS.— The racing at Ak-Sar-15en Park was conducted today undfr most trying circumstances. Just prior to the ! ! running of the first race a terrific rain and hall, storm swept over the course, drenched the track, converted the racing strip into a I sea of mud. . So violent was the downpour j that the rain obscured the vision and tin management deemed it best to postpone the j running of the first race until the storm h-vd i ] subsided. Twenty minutes after post tine; the first field was called to the post. The piece dc resistance as programmed by the racing secretary Charles L. Trimble was the Council Bluffs Handicap, a gallop of jan even mile. This resulted in a thrilling finish in which All Over in rccept of much j weight from the good three-year-old Brilliant | outstayed the youngster by a short neck. In third place raced Hyanpom while Lizette and Ktninent finished far back. The start witnessed Brilliant sprinting into a long lead and entering the back stretch it appeared as if the son of Broomstick and t Masda would spreadeagle his rivals. The ] i colt held sway by a wide margin to the far turn where he commenced to shorten his stride with the result that All Over,-which was making his move narrowed the breach between him and the pacemaker. Into the stretch turned Brilliant still in command by two lengths but in a brief moment jockey Taplin brought All Over up on even terms with Brilliant and then a battle royal between two game thoroughbreds resulted. Nose and nose they fought it out and just before the goal post was reached the older J I horse plunged his way to victory. When All Overs number was dropped in the winning slot it marked the first win of the Irwin colors here. Racing through a downpour of rain Bally-new won the initial race at the lucrative odds of almost 10 to 1. Following in his wake came Indianola and Bebc Flowers. Eventide, which races for Mrs. W. J. Potter was the paddock tip in the second at | three-quariers mile and the judgment of the ! | wise set was correct for the filly won with I the utmost ease from Horinga and Leola May.
