J. HAYES STABLES DOUBLE Variation and Royal Dick Carry Its Colors to Victory at Beulah Park. COLUMBUS. Ohio. April It. The feature race of the Monday urogram at Beulah Park resulted in a well earned victory for , .1. Hayes Variation, when the latter handily; drew away from her rivals in the closing stages of the race. After racing in close quarters next the inner rail throughout, the winner found an opening rounding the turn for home and drew away from Hole Card, the early leader, in the final seventy yards. Hole Card set a fast early pace, went a trifle wide on the turn for home hut held on well and saved second place. Edmoh of he Creech stable was a creditable third. The victory for - Variation made it a double for the J. Haves" stable. Royal Dick having evoked in the third race. . A large crowd w:is again on hand to witness the sport despite the cold and uninviting weather. John Hoshor scored a decisive victory in the opening race and. after showing the wav throughout, was going away from his opponents at the finish, Liborio was best of the others for second place and 1. Moody was third. In the second race. Grenada, a five-year-old maiden racing for J. C. Foley, graduated from the ranks of nonwinners by defeating tncle Velo in the last two strides after al keen stretch duel. Incle Velo went to the front with a rush approaching the far turn, but was outgamed in a hard drive at the finish. Miss Kinerson saved third place in this event, after taking the lead for a few yards in the buck stretch. The third resulted in a win for Royal I ick. After following Krlanger closely to the stretch the winner then moved up on the outside and drew away handily in the last sixteenth. Oneida defeated the tiring Krlanger for second place in the closing strides. C. N. Freemans Albert L. proved a surprise in annexing the fourth from a fast band of sprinters. The winner followed the early pace closely to the stretch and then moved up on the outside in the run home and slowly wore down Rig Sapp. which had set the pace to the stretch head. The latter ; had a wide margin for second place over Rock Rottom. which came from the rear in the closing stages to be third. In the seventh Spina repeated her sterling performance of Saturday and easily to:ik the measure of her opponents at all stages Cen. Cadorna and Relaro fought If out in the stretch for second place and show honors, the former outgaming Helario at the end. B. Creech scored his first win of the meeting when Traproe took the measure of her opponents decisively in the fifth. Little Manager finished a fast closing second after having met with much interference. Private Seth proved best of the others for the show. ■ •
