J , I 1 l I : I I ; i I ! I I I DEAD HEAT AT HUNTINGTON Judges Unable to Separate First Two Horses at End of Sixth Race Monday. HUNTINGTON, W. Va.. April I*. For the first time in the history of racing at the Tri-State Fair course a dead heat flat with the running of the sixth race, which served as the feature attraction this afternoon. l.uvinia and Arragosa fought it out. racing on almost even terms all during the final eighth and reached the finish so close together that the judges were unable to separate them. Air Mail came from behind in the last quarter to beat the others home. The dead heat was not run off. the purse being split. Following the tain of yesterday the races were again contested over a muddy track and several of the contests were greatly-reduced by scratching. Overhead conditions were favorable, however, but the weather was cold and the attendance light. Closing with good courage through the stretch Niko outlasted Ceneral Beth during the final drive of. the opening dash, which marked his maiden victory. General Seth tired after racing Ho-Horry into defeat. Showing the most speed throughout. C. T. WorthinatOn annexed the following race handily. Orpbelin and Oarenne divided the remainder of the purse after Black Art retired during the stretch run. Taking command ;.t once Thomas Biatt was never in serious trouble during the running of the third dash. After In tnc outpaced to the stretch in the fourth dash. Old Top closed with a rush on tue outside of the .eaders and nailed Kirk Lady, the pacemaker, in the mat few yards. The best finish of the afternoon came with the runainc of the fifth dash, when New Rival just got up it, the final stride to snatch victory from Hindoostan. William Cain took old Top back today via the claiming tout- out of the fourth race for ,100. Arragosa also returned to owner Cain, who secured him out of the sixth race for J:M0i .
