GOODLY SIZED ATTENDANCE Sees Racing at Akron Despite Intermittent Showers — Trafal-• gar Takes Principal Race. AKKON. Ohi . April 22. A good sized crowd braved the threat of rain and stood In intermittent showers to sec the second program of the Akron Racing Association at Northampton I*ark. The track was unaffected by the moisture, but is "dead" as a result of much recent treatment with disc harrows. F. O. Hills Trafalgar beat French Canadian narrowly In the best race on the card. They raced head and head all the way. with French Canadian setting the pace along the rail, but McGinnis got the son of Rapid, Water to the fore in the closing strides. Old Broadway and Ooldmark staged a similar battle for third place and finished in the order naxned, three lengths back of the first two. Cottager caught the leaders tiring in the closing strides of the first race and drew away to score under pressure. Mel nall donned the Sunflower Stable silks to rale him. In the second I ta.li led all the way and held Cassius safe hy a head through a long drive. Lord Darnley outlasted Benita for third place. Two-year-olds started in the third. Dlcfc took the lead under Callahan right after the barrier was released and won all the way ridden out mildly. Seths Hope and Cap-linger finished second and third. Guy Clayton raced in front throughout the fourth and carried Zander to victory in the silks of I*. Dwyer. Hopalong followed the pace closest to the stretch, but tired and surrendered second place to Klla, Wood. Zander was injured when kicked by another horse when he fell from Winnie OYVynn. but was none the worse for it today and rode welL
